So over the past 10-15 years, as I’ve been trying to branch out, grow a following and sell commissions, there’s one phrase I’ve heard more than any other.
“I’d love to support you, but I have no money.”
And you know, I get that. I understand. I don’t have any either. But here’s the secret. The most powerful and useful thing you can do to support an artist? It doesn’t cost a penny. Reblog their posts, signal boost their commissions, advertise their patreon./ If you have commissioned them, or do support their patreon? Write a review, tell your friends, share their links. Keep circulating the tapes.
Every post is an artist laying themselves bare before you. You have the power to make them into somebody. You can make them into a big name, you can help bring them an income. All you have to do is share.
Here’s a handy infographic.
If artists get only likes, they never get any exposure. They find no followers, they make no money, and feel worthless.
But with reblogs, who knows how far they could reach? New people could see their work and follow them, and maybe one person will spot that commissions post or patreon promo, and maybe offer to help support them. And it didn’t even cost those followers a penny to reblog the post.
So please, anyone out there. If you enjoy an artist’s work and can’t afford to give any monetary support, you can give them something more powerful. A voice.
And authors, too. Please reblog and share author commissions!
To use the first 200 reblogs of this post as an example:
That orange dot is OP! Look at how far those first few reblogs spread this post!
Can I also add!!!!!!
This doesn’t work if you repost art.
Especially when you remove the credit, you break the web of connections. Only only only ever repost an artist’s context if you have ALREADY asked them and they have ALREADY given EXPLICIT permission
I need to reblogg y'all’s stuff more
I often hear the argument “well I only have 8 followers, so why should I bother?” - do you ‘bother’ to reblog memes? Then you should also reblog your favorite artists art! Even these 8 people can be part of the chain above
I, for example, try to reblog all the art I see posted from the people I follow! That way, everyone who follows me can also see that amazing art :D
TL;DR Do what you do because its fun. Everything is a challenge in its own way. Don’t quit what you enjoy because of some people on the internet. Also,
BE RESPECTFUL, It’s not that hard!

People in my Discord server were talking about this whole situation with SFM artists being put on blast because of the samey feel with the models and what not. However as I said in there, many unique things can be done with SFM. Even if you are not particularly a huge fan of it, that is no reason to shit on the work they do. If you are tired of seeing the samey models, offer something to create a change to it.
3D Work is challenging work no matter what part of it you are looking into. Modeling, detailing the model, texturing the model, rigging, lighting, animating, rendering, etc all are things that take a lot of time to learn and some may be better at a specific thing.
People have their preferences. People have their tastes. Do not shove your tastes and preferences down other people’s throats solely because you don’t like something. To the SFM artists, do not quit. Instead evolve and enchance your ability to something stronger especially if you have followers who enjoy your stuff. Do not let a some people deter you from something you enjoy.
All forms of art is difficult. All forms of art has a challenge. No matter what area you take; music, drawing, 3D, writing whatever; challenges exist.
One last note: I don’t think the artists you are claiming are superior need the attention you just threw at them because all it is is negative. You just made that artist a target for why SFM artists are leaving solely because you don’t like something. You could have easily promoted said artist and a much less attacking light but failed to do so.
Just be respectful. I do not understand how that has become such a foreign concept to people.

I’m sorry I haven’t contributed. I took a small break from tumblr. Can you provide any resources that can I can have spread like a wildfire?
I was disputing a charge of 970 on PayPal for the last 2 months because I had a very firm case that I was scammed and I wanted to be compensated.
PayPal kinda just went “Yeah we don’t care” and forced me to pay instead of compensating me in any way, so they let the scammers just completely get away with it and my PayPal lawyer says there’s nothing I can do because it’s been 2 months since the scam happened and it’s too late for me to take them to court because at this point I could easily fake the damage done to the TV I bought for my mom.
This means instead of the 3,000 I had put away to order Series 1 Double E, I now have about 2,030 put away.
Will this ruin my ability to purchase the decks? No, but I certainly can’t get anywhere near as many. I’ll probably be getting like 200 decks instead of the initially planned 400, and my other BronyCon expenses are gonna be tougher to pay for.
Though, I could also just put some money away.
So, I’m gonna be working on commissions and encouraging pre-orders for Full Service Double E.
Donations are obviously welcome.
Expect lots of streams for the next couple days.
Now I got someone disputing a 50 dollar donation they made back in February, and also my 4th roommate for Bronycon, @skys-art-corner might not be able to make it to the con to help pay for the room.

Looks like it’s high time to bust out the “Do a lot of commissions”

Bronx and Queens followers: get out and vote for Ocasio-Cortez in the primary tomorrow!
No one asking the question who’s going to pay for all that free shit? Cause if there is no real answer the answer is you.
Funny you ask that, as I’ve spent a ton of time asking that question. Might I recommend raising taxes on the wealthy and redirecting funds from unnecessary or wasteful social programs? I could go into detail on any of this if you’d like me to, but for the simple version:
The full repeal of the Tax Cuts And Jobs Act
The creation of new millionaire’s income tax brackets
Reform or elimination of individual and corporate tax expenditures, along with a consolidation of other expenditures
The elimination of special treatment and loopholes exploited by the rich and influential industries from the tax code
Expanding IRS funding to audit and prosecute wealthy tax cheats
Reform of the international tax code, including policies aimed at eliminating the use of offshore tax havens
The elimination of the payroll tax cap
The elimination of special treatment for capital gains income and the stepped-up basis
Dramatic expansion of estate taxes
A carbon tax
A financial transactions tax
Dramatic cuts in military spending, military aid, homeland security and surveillance spending, police, and incarceratory spending (the later two achieved through a massive overhaul of our criminal justice system)
Dramatic cuts in agricultural and business subsidies
The elimination of waste and the consolidation of duplicative programs
A variety of healthcare reforms which increase efficiency without significant negative effects on quality or quantity of care (switching to single-payer would come with dramatic administrative savings itself, but I’m talking about the adaptation of more active cost-saving measures)
A variety of economic reforms to boost growth without the use of significant expenditures, thus boosting revenues
Some of these programs will be paid for by average taxpayers; for example, basically any single-payer health program would require an increase in payroll taxes to be financially feasible. But the benefits of these programs can easily outweigh the cost (especially when it comes to something like single-payer, where payroll tax increases are compensated by an end to insurance premiums, effectively a private tax the vast majority of people are already paying). There’s my real answer.
So you’d increase most taxes on the middle class. But you see raising taxes doesn’t raise tax revenue. Even Obama admitted that much. So even you should know repeal the tax cuts will raise unemployment and produce less tax revenue. Which means you’re not actually paying for it.
Here’s a quote from a Democrat to explain it:
“It is a paradoxical truth that tax rates are too high today and tax revenues are too low, and the soundest way to raise revenues in the long run is to cut the rates now.”
-JFK, 1962
You say the benefits of all this free shit outweigh the cost, just like Obamacare was supposed to save $2500 per family. If you knew it didn’t, it was an admitted LIE. The rest who spread this obvious lie were just being dumb, and should be ashamed for being dumb and admonishing at anyone who disagreed. If free health care were cheaper, every greedy business would line up to get and resell it as a benefit. They know better.
To your credit you mention eliminating subsidies. I agree 100%.
Uh, no, the wealthy is not the middle class.
Yes, raising taxes does raise revenue. The Laffer curve maxima- the point at which tax rate hikes begins to generate negative revenue returns, is generally estimated to be around the effective rate of 70%, not even remotely close to where we are currently. The argument you’re making has been pretty widely discredited.
Obama promised a $2,500 saving as a 2007 campaign promise, not as an actual, evidenced estimate of the effects of the final Obamacare bill. Additionally, there is in fact evidence that the ACA has slowed down the growth of healthcare costs, as “National health spending is projected to be $2.6 trillion lower than in the 2010 ACA baseline forecast for the same period,” in part due to reforms made by the ACA.
Regardless, the proposals made here are not the same thing as the ACA. There’s a massive number of government programs and policies whose benefits outweigh their costs (take a look at a basic cost-benefit analysis of the Clean Air Act for a huge example). There’s plenty of research suggesting that a proposal like single-payer healthcare would do the same, especially when compared to the wildly inefficient healthcare system we currently have.
Please no estate taxes, that would apply to everyone and that’s how people lose houses, farms, resources, simply due to the death of a family member. That’s just… not right. Especially considering most savings/wealth a person will have in their life is inherited. I get that there is an enormous income inequality in the US to inhumana levels. An estate tax would punish the very economic tiers of people you’re looking to aid. Taxing any non-liquidated asset in USD is an awful idea, it means you have to sell whatever you worked to buy/establish in order to pay your taxes and not go to prison.
That’s entirely untrue. In 2017 the estate tax applied only to the largest 0.2% of estates, and that’s before the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act’s reforms, which will shrink that to even lower numbers. The average estate tax rate on an estate under $5 million dollars is 0.0%, and even among the estates large enough to be taxable it’s only 16.8%. The idea that the estate tax harms small farms and businesses is a myth: last year, it applied to only 80 small farms and businesses, total. The estate tax imposes virtually zero financial hardship on anyone and the idea that it does is a myth generated out of thin air by its wealthy critics; it is in fact the single most progressive tax in the entire tax system, and should be expanded dramatically.
I mean sure, kids separated at the US border are now being returned to their parents, but that’s just a resolution to something that shouldn’t’ve even happened..
Seems like for every “good” thing that happens, 2 more worse things drown it out..
Like seriously, is there -any- good news that fucking matters nowadays? What good has happened or looking likely to happen this year? Cuz ngl, it’s all looking pretty bleak.. I know it’s all subjective but..
The housing epidemic in Hawai’i has reached an all time fucking low.
Let me tell you a little story.
My landlord informed me that he’s in trouble with the building permitting office, and because I have a perfect rental history he wants to relocate me (with my husband and two kids) to another property. I’m like okay fine, I’ll go look at it.
But then I get there … and it’s literally a concrete slab with walls and cheap windows.
This piece of shit had:
No front door
No floor (just raw concrete)
No walls or insulation
No kitchen
No bathroom, shower, or toilet
No septic tank
No electricity
No water or catchment
They want $825 a month
I asked when they were going to finish the cabin. They said it was already done, and we would have to pay for everything else out of pocket.
Is this illegal? Probably. But in my area, there are over 800 displaced residents who are looking for rentals due to the Kīlauea volcano. Someone will probably be desperate enough to take this offer, but not me.
This is the type of housing conditions natives and Hawai’i locals are dealing with so foreigners can have their Air BnBs, vacation rentals, and retirement cabins. So rich politicians can have a second or third home somewhere tropical.
In normal conditions, I would guess that this violates all kinds of housing laws, but in a disaster, it’s doubly illegal, as it’s price gouging. You should report it.
Report any instances of price gouging by emailing ocp@dcca.hawaii.gov with the following information:
Name of business
Location of the business (island, city, area)
Item purchased (any specific information about the product)
Name and contact number of the consumer
During normal business hours, consumers can call the DCCA Consumer Resource Center (CRC) between 7:45 am and 4:30 pm Monday through Friday at 587-4272 or 587-3295 from Oahu. Residents on the neighbor islands can call the following numbers:
Kauai 274-3141 ext. 74272
Maui 984-2400 ext. 74272
Hawaii 974-4000 ext. 74272
Lanai & Molokai 1-800-468-4644 (toll free)
Q: What are the consequences if a merchant violates the law?
A: Violation of the price increase prohibition is an unfair method of competition, and an unfair deceptive act or practice under Haw. Rev. Stat. § 480-2, subject to civil penalties as provided for in Haw. Rev. Stat. § 480-3.1. Each item sold in violation of the law is a separate violation. Fines of $500, up to $10,000, per day, per violation, are possible.
