Ask I accidentally sent privately… I want people to get over the idea that artists are gods to put on a different pedestal than everyone else. We’re people and we prefer to be treated normally! Referring to artists as gods or whatever is an effective way to let them know you think they’re cool but if you overdo it then you’re creating a gap between the two of you that doesn’t need to be there! Never be afraid to confront people you admire.

Yeah, don’t put artists on pedestals, it is better to just have us at the eye level, that way we’re easier to hug and shake hands with. Though ask first if you plan either. Surprise hugs are welcome only from individuals who bathe on regular and frequent basis.

If I don’t respond to talk much it’s simply because I’m busy and exhausted and sometimes being social is really difficult for an introvert like me. But I always feel terrible for it, and I never want to give people the impression I’m unapproachable.

And I’ll tell you one thing–don’t put artists so high up that you think we’re flawless gods; It’s actually incredibly uncomfortable. We’re ultimately only human, and prone to human flaws and vices and we know it. And when people exalt us to that degree, it creates a pressure to live up to those impossible standards.

Respect and even effervescent admiration are okay. Worship and treating artists like they’re inherently better than other people is bad for everyone, including the artist.
