So Equestria Daily has poll going on right now about one’s least favorite thing that the fandom does. Here are the current results

The fact that sexualized content is so much higher on this list than Gore and Grimdark stuff upsets me to no end. And Grimdark and Gore is so low on the list… what the hell?

For the record, Gore is what I personally voted for. I don’t want to condemn people who like that stuff but…I personally really despise it, and it’s popularity. But I’m willing to co-exist with it, and just ignore it out of respect for other’s interests.

But it’s like, there is this dynamic in western culture of how violence in media is just so much more acceptable than sexuality. Why is something and destructive and negative, like gore, considered less of an offense than something that is ultimately about positive and happy experiences, like sexuality?

If both were roughly equal on this list, I wouldn’t really be bothered by this. But I hate this double standard in our culture and it’s depresses and angers me to see it represented in the pony community as well. 

And that just sucks
