Here’s the thing about hypnotism.

True, legitimate hypnotism will never, EVER make you do something you don’t want to.

Hypnosis, from what my own understanding of it is, is allowing yourself to be put into a relaxed and open minded state. It’s basically willingly going into autopilot.

You can’t hypnotize someone who doesn’t actually want to be hypnotized, and you can’t make them do things they wouldn’t willingly do without hypnosis.

It can however make people do things they didn’t realize they want to do. The ability to pick up on the things that people subconsciously want is a rare talent though.

It is also theoretically possible to force people down certian paths that they definitely would not otherwise. Such actions are exceedingly immoral and difficult however
