my fave Metroid lore ever is the one Prime log where the Pirates tried replicating the Morph Ball and ended up crunching all their testers

I just love when writers take these otherwise faceless and intimidating factions and make them out to be less than infallible

I like the set of minor scans that feature a warning to all Space Pirates working in the labs that metroids and other specimens are not pets and should not be treated as such.

Then about 3 rooms later you scan a contained metroid that is noted to be sick from ingesting several space pirate rations and pet treats.
