Lol EA now has the most downvoted comment on Reddit. They were trying to justify why it cost $80 to unlock Darth Vader in their new battlefront game; trying to justify the insane amount of microtransactions in the game.
Actually update: it turns out it’d take 40 hours or $260 to unlock ONE character (darth Vader or luke) on top of the $80 price tag, so yeah.

It also has become the new centerpiece of the “lootboxes are micro-transactions with added gambling” controversy, and the latest in the string of EA PR disasters that don’t change how they do business.
EA needs to get their shit together. Gamers can only stand so much bullshit and moneygrabbing schemes. It’s going to destroy their company (if it hasn’t already) at this rate.
At the end of the day, Present E-A only cares about maximizing their profits. Even if they have to crash and burn while doing it.
