So this has been happening A LOT lately. Just because an artist is popular and their art is good doesn’t mean that EVERYTHING they do (this includes the content they make) is right! Just because they’re popular and cool doesn’t make them a nice person! They drown out the other artists and people who are genuinely triggered by their toxic beliefs and content.  Incest and pedophilia is wrong. It’s not an opinion, it’s a fact. Fictional or not, it’s absolutely disgusting. And when big artists draw and support this content young and impressionable people start to think it’s okay too. We need to END this. There are even artists with a horrible track record of treating people awfully but since they’re so ‘popular’ people ignore the fact!! Then they start interacting with other artists who have done no wrong and are not aware of these big artists wrongdoings- And the people who follow these good artists and or people start to see the ‘big artists’ content even though they have meticulously took the time to block and blacklist all their content. It’s hurts us, it really does. Once again;

JUST BECAUSE SOMEONE IS COOL, POPULAR OR THEIR ART IS GOOD DOESN’T MEAN THAT THEY’RE ALWAYS RIGHT OR A GOOD PERSON.

I really want to throw in my two cents on this subject first by saying I semi agree and smei disagree with it.

I will whole heartedly acknowledge this in fact a problem in just about any community/fandom that goes on. Iv seen some pretty bad people have pretty good reputation just because they are popular and thats about it.

But I also want to throw and add onto the “Just because someone is cool and popular or there art is good doesn’t mean they are always right or a good person” and add

-just because someone isn’t popular doesn’t mean they are a bad person

-just because someone draws good stuff doesn’t mean they are a good person

-just because someone draws something taboo doesn’t make them a bad person.

How about we just, stop tying people to the art they draw? One of the most important things I learned as a growing artist in a communitee that sometimes wants to rip eachothers throat out is. Seperate an artist from their work so you don’t demonize them for what they draw.

I feel this post has some bias itself to it- If not the artist themself has had a realllllly bad time with certain people in ther comunitee, which I can respect and understand.

But some of the people who I have met that draw the most fucked up taboo shit. Rape, incest, abuse, necro, etc. Are some of the nicest people I still ascociate myself to, to this day.

Bouncing over to the topic on pedophilia and Incest. I want to say Im already extremely bias, one because I don’t like pedophilia in the slightest and will avoid it whenever I can. And incest I find kinda interesting in the relationship perspective, but god forbid I don’t like seeing it IRL, ties knots in my stomache when that happens.

I feel like we are overlooking key elements in story telling and world/character building aspect of this. A lot of stories use these taboo areas to put together a decent and realistic story not with the intention of making you feel good, or happy, or remotely justified in life. But to male you squirm in your seat, a series of uncomfortablenes as you flip through the pages.

The world is not a perfect place, we should make an effort to make it better. But let people draw what they want as long as it follows the law and stop bashing them. Including myself because Im tired of getting demonized for some of my characters that have infact got several trigger warnings attached to them.
