Seriously though, what a disappointment.

I feel dirty getting up on the “CGI is worse than practical effects” soapbox, because I’ve seen amazing CGI and  terrible practical effects, but this movie feels like it was made just for me to go on such a vapid rant. The first movie had some of the best practical effects I’ve ever seen, and still have nightmares about, but what happened here feels like a slap in the face. It was clear that the people making this movie had a lot of love for it and wanted it to  be good, with fairly solid acting and a set design that perfectly matches what we see in the original. I heard that the original cut of this movie had amazing practical effects, and the people who made them were so upset at how the studio just slapped a bunch of CGI  on top of their work went and made their own movie called Harbinger Down. I need to get myself a copy of that.

And now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to get another bucket. Thank goodness King Thorax wasn’t here for the original.

Seriously though, I think this was one of the most direct movies I’ve ever seen.

You wouldn’t think a movie about twelve people stuck in a room talking about a murder could be interesting, but here we are. While it’s no cinematic achievement it managed to stay entertaining and this is all thanks to how well all the actors work together and how good the characters are.

While I think some moments in this movie are a bit too over the top (that one last juror at the end went a bit cartoony) I can still recommend it for how interesting and engaging it is.

And now, if you excuse me, I’m busy with this game. I’m pretty sure the murder weapon was the knife.

Seriously though, this is the most bizarre concoction I’ve ever seen in my life.

Of course she’d foist the starring role onto the only trained comedian for an unintentionally funny movie!
